7.335 movie, shoes

Sunday 11/01/2026

Sunday morning early. Early because I thought the end of DST was tonight, not Saturday night, so I didn’t stay up late and was up and going at six oops no it’s actually five am.

I had a couple things I hoped to find at a farmers market so I took a Lyft over to Cal. avenue and walked that market. Back in plenty of time for lunch.

After lunch, a documentary movie. My neighbor Rob wanted to show a documentary about a program for high school students, the Hampton College Summer Studies in Mathematics. Rob attended this way back then, but the program is still running, even though its original home, Hampton College, no longer exists. The film is Hunting Yellow Pigs. Rob is one of the program alumni that is interviewed in it.

Rob is working his way into being one of the AV techs. He did all the tech for this, with me and David Golden supervising.

After the film, about 4pm, Joanne and I drove to Menlo Park because I wanted to shop for shoes at Fleet Feet. Two of my neighbors here swear by their Brooks walking shoes so I wanted to try some. I have a pair of Hokas which I would still use for our real hikes on trails, but I want a walking shoe I can wear all day and not look like I have large mushrooms on my feet. I was satisfied with one model and how it fit, but they didn’t have the color I wanted, so I came home and ordered it online.

After supper Joanne came by and we watched another of the Great Courses lectures we are taking.
