Went early for a walk, back about 9. At 10, set up the auditorium for a lecture, the one that I helped rehearse yesterday. The speaker in fact had improved as well as tweaked his slide set, so that was a useful rehearsal. This was a book talk about the book Breakneck: China’s Quest to Engineer the Future. The speaker, resident Bruce, praised the book but ended up saying he disagreed with a lot of what it says. He had some startling facts about the Chinese economy and the demographics of the past two decades that have deep implications for China’s future. So, fun talk.

Following the talk, at 12:15 I grabbed my to-go lunch bag, changed from one set of computer gear to another, and got in Fred and drove to FOPAL. I put in two hours and had to leave with five boxes still to do. I’ll have to go back sometime later in the week.

Back home I had a chat with Dr. Margaret, trying to get a handle on what kind of trip insurance I should buy for the tour we plan to take next year.

Then to the 4pm Poetry Out Loud meeting. There were just four of us, instead of the usual 8 or so, and only three poems read.

Downstairs to the First Monday Dinner Mixer, when you take a random table number out of a hat as you come in, so people sit in new combinations in the dining room.

No nap. Nearly 4 miles of walking. Think I may go to bed early.
