7.341 to the City, Dolly show

Saturday 11/07/2026

Back on October 1, we went to a concert at SFJazz, and there I lost my hat. It was one of my favorites, Mein Deutsche Hutt, that I bought in Munich. Just walked away from it. So the next day I emailed various different people at SFJazz (since they didn’t any any clue about “lost and found” on their website) and — nothing. No answer for about 3 weeks. Then early this week I got an email from a person there, with a picture of my hat, “Is this it?” So I arranged to come by this weekend and get it. I told Joanne I had found something fun to do on Saturday: go get my hat.

This was a weekend when 101 was closed for repaving, so we drove in on 280 and 19th avenue and then all the way across town on Oak street. At Franklin, hooked around and pulled up at SFJazz on Fell. As directed I buzzed at the security door in the parking garage, and the security guy let me in and dug around and gave me my hat, yay!

Then we drove across some more of the city to a parking garage on The Embarcadero, and walked to the Ferry building. I had heard there was a farmers marke there on Saturdays, and anyway the building is full of restaurants.

It was a lovely day, about 70 degrees, bright sun, and just throngs of people, shopping and eating and also coming on and off the ferry boats that were coming and going at 5 minute intervals. So many and varied types of clothing styles and body adornments. It was an exciting scene. We picked a mexican restaurant at random and had very nice tacos. Drove on home.

This evening we are running a Dolly Parton concert video, her 2009 appearance in London. I have to go do that now.
