7.291 meeting, fopal, event

Friday 09/18/2026

We took our customary Friday morning Muffin Mosey. Then at 11, I attended the ResTech (formerly AI interest group) meeting. M

uch inconclusive talk about the upcoming shift to Cubigo. I had an idea and proposed that if there was a charge for customizing Cubigo the way we want it, we could get a Heritage Fund grant. Enthusiastically adopted.

After lunch I realized I had several hours to kill, and I knew there were 13 boxes of books waiting for me at FOPAL. Rather than take Fred, as I knew Joanne was planning to take some friends out to dinner about 4 and I was afraid I wouldn’t be back in time, I took a Lyft each way. I checked Waymo’s price first and as usual, it was 2x the Lyft price. I don’t know how they keep their cars so busy; they are all over the streets of Palo Alto.

The Lyft going down was a Tesla and OMG was that a harsh ride. The back seat of the Tesla felt like it had no springs at all, just harsh and bouncy. Our streets aren’t that bad. Coming back it was a little econobox car and it was much smoother. Anyway, killed about 7 boxes and headed back.

Had an early supper, then set up the auditorium for our Beatles show. Twelve songs, each led by a song-leader who gave an intro about the song, when written, when first hit #1, etc. Big crowd, at least 90 people, and they pretty much all sang along. Fun. I put everything away and here I am back in my room, beer in hand, writing the blog at 9:10pm.
