7.184 hike, errands

Wednesday 06/03/2026

At 9am I met with Joanne and Martha and we went for a hike to Martha’s favorite park, Coal Mine Ridge park in Portola Valley. This trail, like the Wunderlich park trail, starts at 600 feet and goes steadily up to 1130 feet. Three miles or so. At the top there is a clearing with a truly magnificent oak tree.

After lunch Joanne and I walked up University ave to the T-Mobile store where we put her phone on my account. She had been wanting to leave the little system she was with, based in Port Townsend, but she found out that to start her own account at T-Mobile there would be a credit check, which would mean she would have to unlock her credit records at the rating agencies. It seemed simpler to just put her on my account which could be done with no paperwork.

So we did that, and the T-Mobile person was super helpful and it all went very smoothly.

I pretty much crashed then until dinner time. Over dinner talking to Mark and Sophia, they were urging me to continue the contemporary music series. Problem is, the project to renovate our elevators is on, and the 11th floor, where I had been holding the CMX meetings, has a giant build-your-own-elevator kit.

But in fact, the area around the TV (behind me as I took this picture) is just fine and usable. So I wrote to some staff members asking permission to use that space later this month.
